Backflow Testing NC
Backflow Preventer Testing in North Carolina
LCG of NC, Inc. provides backflow assembly testing for homeowners, businesses, property managers, contractors, and municipalities across North Carolina.
What is backflow testing?
Backflow testing is a check of a backflow prevention assembly performed with calibrated gauges and test equipment. A certified backflow tester connects to the assembly's test cocks and measures how the internal checks and relief components respond to pressure. The results show whether the assembly is holding as designed or whether it needs attention.
Why backflow preventers are tested
A backflow preventer keeps water from reversing direction and re-entering the potable water supply. Because the assembly relies on moving internal parts, springs, and rubber seats, its condition can change over time. Backflow prevention testing is how that condition is verified rather than assumed.

Backflow testing FAQ
- How long does backflow testing take?
- Most single-assembly tests are short visits, though access, assembly size, and site conditions affect the time on site. We will let you know what to expect when you schedule.
- Will my water be shut off during the test?
- Testing an assembly typically requires briefly closing the shutoff valves, so water downstream of the assembly may be interrupted for a short period.
- How often is testing required?
- Testing intervals are set by the local water purveyor or authority having jurisdiction. Contact LCG of NC or your water provider to confirm the requirement for your property.
